 Grant with the Kairangi

Eastwood can supply tyres for the locally-made Kairangi forklifts still in use. The Kairangi, built in Rangiora by Tasman Manufacturing using a tractor drive-train, dominated sawmill stacking in the South Island for decades.
This three-tonne diesel has been given its cards by Invercargill drainage contractor AG Hoffman Ltd after 30 years regular use by workshop staff when stripping down dozers and other machinery. Director Grant Hoffman says its replacement, a Nissan, sports a cab up top rather than a frame.
Originally red, the Kairangi is not only a "reliable wee forklift" but a functioning example of Kiwi manufacturing history. It has a 3cyl inder David Brown engine. If interested, contact Grant on 027 436 7954 or aghoffman@xtra.co.nz.
